Position Summary

Assumes responsibility for constructing, erecting, installing and repairing structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, wallboard and glass using carpenter’s hand tools and power tools. Conforms to local building codes. Provides service on call, at irregular hours, including weekends, to respond to facility emergencies. Adheres to federal and state laws, University policies and procedures and safety protocols. Performs all duties in full support of the University’s mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University’s students.

Repairs and replaces structural woodwork and wood equipment such as counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, doors, flooring, shelving, display cases, building framework and trim.

Repairs and replaces building systems such as directly applied and suspended ceilings, vinyl composition floor tiles and pedestrian and vehicle doors, including hardware, window hardware, partitions and metal T-bar systems.

Performs minor building and office renovations, working from drawings, planning work, estimating and arranging materials, supplies and equipment necessary and coordinating with other trades as appropriate in an effort to prevent unplanned equipment shortages and to adhere to safety regulations.
