Job Description

Assistant Professor of Psychology will be expected to teach undergraduate courses such as Psychological Foundations I and II (PSB 110 and 111) and other first and second year courses within their areas of expertise. There will also be the opportunity to teach in the innovative University Interdisciplinary Studies (UIS) curriculum.

Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate courses in psychology with a teaching load of 3 courses per semester. Tenure-track faculty members will be expected to have an active scholarly agenda and to compile a record of peer-reviewed publications. Faculty members will also be expected to participate in departmental, college, and/or university committees, to advise students, and to contribute to student recruitment and retention.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have completed a Ph.D. in psychology by the time of appointment—August 15, 2018. ABD candidates with a completion date on or before August 15, 2018 will be considered. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate excellent teaching, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to show a willingness and ability to employ technology in teaching. Candidates will be expected to provide evidence of scholarly achievement and promise. Area of specialization is open; however, preference will be given to candidates with teaching and research interests in the areas of cultural diversity, ethnicity, and race.
