Job Description

The College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions at The University of Hartford invites applications for a full-time, 12-month Assistant Professor of Educational Practice, a clinical/applied track teaching position inclusive of the Director of Clinical Experiences for our Office of Clinical Experiences.

Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible to oversee the Office of Clinical Experiences which includes: all aspects of the clinical experiences of students enrolled in the program including the organization and administration of fieldwork, student teaching, and practica, continuous review and revision of clinical experiences, development of new and established community partnerships, supervising staff and supervisors, and the general overall effectiveness of the students’ clinical education.

The Director of Clinical Experiences in Education will also assist the Department Chair in strategic planning, clinical assessment and supervision, assessment of student learning outcomes and measures of overall programmatic success, and maintenance of programmatic and institutional accreditation.

This faculty member will be responsible for teaching (with reduced load) across education programs (Early Childhood, Elementary, Special Education, and Secondary Education); student advising; student recruitment; with additional opportunities to supervise student research at all levels; engage in committee service at the College and University levels; and pursue professional productivity as evidenced by contributions to and innovations in the teacher preparation program. There will be opportunities to teach in our innovative, University Interdisciplinary (UIS) curriculum. Candidates should also show a willingness and ability to employ technology in teaching and administrative responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

The requirements for this Assistant Professor of Educational Practice (Clinical/Applied) position include: a minimum of a Master’s degree in an Education or related field from an accredited institution at the time of appointment (terminal degree preferred, related fields also considered, e.g., PhD, EdD, JD, PsyD). Preferred qualifications include four or more years of P -12 teaching experience and familiarity with state and national accreditation standards. Preference will be given to candidate with teaching experience in urban and diverse setting and higher education teaching experience.
