Position Summary

Assumes responsibility for working closely with and actively supporting the Office of Residential Life (ORL) management team in an effort to provide a residential environment conducive to the academic and personal growth of students. Serves as an integral member of the ORL management team overseeing the development and implementation of ORL assessment and operational activities. In all actions, maintains privacy and confidentiality of records in accordance with established University policy as well as applicable federal regulations appropriate to higher education. Performs all duties in full support of the University’s mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University’s students.

This is a live-on staff position, responsible for responding to emergency situations at all hours, including evenings and weekends.

Develops and implements assessment plans for the ORL including, but not limited to, student satisfaction and learning outcomes surveys in an effort to support high occupancy levels. Develops survey questions, utilizes survey tools, executes surveys and interprets results in an effort to forecast trends and recommend innovative and creative short and long range programming initiatives to increase student engagement. Leads departmental research activities in an effort to provide recommendations on trends and student needs

Reveiws, maitains and updates departmental manuals, providing feedback to ORL staff regarding changes to processes and/or procedures. Documents procedures and creates training materials in an effort to provide resources and standards for all ORL staff. Creates, analyzes and provides weekly occupancy reports to the Assistant Vice President for Residential Life noting trends and documenting issues of concern.

Establishes, cultivates and maintains effective working relationships with internal constituencies including, but not limited to, Facilities and Public Safety in an effort to support the academic and personal growth and success of University students. Provides oversight and evaluation to ORL administrative office staff and works to foster effective and collaborative partnerships within ORL, Student Affairs and other departments within the university.

Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) with regard to Clery Act reporting. Serves on internal committees including, but not limited to, the Capacity Committee, the Data Standards Committee, the Retention Task Force, as necessary and appropriate. Represents the ORL on various external committees as necessary and/or appropriate.

Maintains a student-centered approach by providing a quality customer service experience to current and prospective students, parents, faculty and staff by clarifying policy, addressing residential life concerns and answering inquiries in a timely and collegial fashion. Serves in an administrative on-call rotation in support of the University’s students, Resident Assistants and Resident Directors.
