Position Summary

Assumes responsibility for performing duties related to the delivery of the University’s admission/application process for prospective students. Assumes responsibility for adherence to rules and regulations governing federal, state, University, America East and the NCAA, including assisting in the education process extended to alumni and the community. Performs all duties in full support of the University’s mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University’s students.

Collects, reviews and evaluates student applications against University standards of admission in order to determine acceptance at the University. Interviews prospective students to analyzes anddetermine admissibility.

Counsels and advises prospective students and their parents regarding collegiate programs, application requirements and procedures, as well as general financial aid assistance opportunities and procedures at the University. Stays informed regarding the current required curriculum within collegiate programs to ensure appropriate and accurate information is shared.

Establishes, cultivates and maintains effective relationships with internal and external constituents including campus departments, parents, and prospective students. Responds to parent and student inquiries via e-mail, telephone and mail regarding admission requirements, curriculum, housing , the University of Hartford community and general guidance, ensuring quality customer and appropriate follow-up.

Description of Key Responsibility

Has responsibility for one or more of the following:
• Red Key Society – Hires and trains current students for the volunteer tour guide organization. Oversees all daily tours, weekend tours, and special event tours.
• Graduate Assistant program – Hires and trains current students to make phone calls every Monday – Thursday to prospective families. Oversees the daily operations and off campus admission events.
• Overnight Host Program – Hires and trains a current student to host prospective students. Oversees all admission events on campus.
• Acts as a liaison with the Hartt Admission staff to review all Hartt applicants. Oversees the ranking report and the on-line application for admission.

Represents the University of Hartford at local and regional recruitment events including but not limited to college fairs and high schools in an effort to promote the University and recruit prospective students. Assists in planning special admission recruitment events for the University including but not limited to open houses and orientation events.
