Job Description

The Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford invites applications for a full-time non-tenure-track faculty position in Foundation 4D. Appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor (renewable clinical applied contract) beginning September 2018.

Required Qualifications

An MFA degree is required. A minimum of two years college teaching experience at the first-year foundation level is preferred. We seek an artist with experience in teaching foundation 4-D/Time-Based media and expertise in some or all of the following areas: video, photography, computer programming, performance, animation, and interdisciplinary art.

The Hartford Art School, accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, is committed to educating the whole artist through rigorous studio-based disciplines in a liberal arts university setting. The Hartford Art School is located on the residential campus of the University of Hartford in West Hartford, Connecticut, conveniently located between Boston and New York City. With an enrollment of of about 310 undergraduates, students receive a lot of personal attention from professional artists, designers, and historians. The Hartford Art school offers BFA programs in ceramics, illustration, painting and drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture and visual communication design, a BA in art history and low-residency MFA programs in illustration, photography and interdisciplinary art.

Examples of Applicant’s Professional Work* with checklist
Examples of Student Work completed under the applicant’s direction* with checklist
*For Video/Time Based Work: Provide a URL link to an online edited sample reel of a maximum of 10 minutes of video or time-based work (webpage, Vimeo, YouTube, etc.) and additional links to URL’s where these samples may be viewed in their entirety. Interactive or web-based works should also be referenced to a URL. In addition, a maximum of 10 images will be reviewed and should be submitted in pdf form with accompanying annotation.
